Railway operators use the solution for managing units and railway wagons. It has functions to book and allocate units, exchange units with neighbouring countries and other operators, shunt and make up trains including calculation and composition of information, necessary in order to run a train. Furthermore, it is possible to exchange data with an external contract- and agreement system.
The solution is a Goods Transport System with Internet Interface, GTSii. The system contains information about stations, timetables, wagons etc. and can exchange this information with other information systems. Included are also functions to notify incidents by SMS, e-mail or fax. The product is Internet based and has a low demand for bandwidth; it is possible to use wireless connections from PC in the terminal trucks and handheld computers.
GTSii has functions to manage frontier traffic including exchange of information with other railway companies. This communication can e.g. happen via the information system Hermes. The solution has information about stations including central stations, sub stations and neighbouring stations. Furthermore, GTSii has information about the lay-out of the stations with track information. GTSii has both technical and administrative information about wagons. The technical information includes e.g. weight and length. The administrative information includes information such as inspection date and description of possible damages. A train is characterized by a number referring to its timetable with date and time for arrival and departure on the distance covered from the departure station to the terminal station.
GTSii holds information about special conditions in the transport including information about transport of dangerous goods. GTSii is integrated with the terminal solution and can also be used with other parties in the chain of transport, both in relation to parties using OneStopBooking and parties using other booking systems.
