You can compare it to a project model where all activities, working orders, resources in terms of personal and machinery, units, cargo etc are linked to the call - the project.

The Vessel call - the base product - holds information about dates, time stamps, statements of facts, moorings etc.

Both external information from local liner agents like internal information updates the call module in real time.

The call product also cares about other calls - like trucks entering the terminal as well as rail shuttles.
