Transatlantic European Services makes strategic investments in EDI

Transatlantic container vessels are calling several port terminals on their European liner traffic services. The ambition of Transatlantic is to have full and real time control of all carried containers - both own and ocean operators - by implementing new EDI communicating processes.

An agreement has recently been signed between Transatlantic European Services and InPort Intelligent Port Systems to implement a full set of EDI communicating solutions. Bookings as well as load and discharge manifests will be transferred electronically and automatically using international standardized EDIFACT formats to calling ports. In reverse all movements from calling be transferred in electronic and standardized format automatically back to Transatlantic, viz. gate in, gate out, load and discharge reports.

Swedish sea terminals today having the InPort Terminal Solutions are prepared to and send messages to Transatlantic, which will make the implementation relatively fast.

First ports to be involved in Transatlantic full EDI traffic are:
· Port of Södertälje
· Mälarhamnar AB
· Port of Oxelösund
· Port of Helsingborg
Ports in Finland, UK and Germany will follow in due time.

"All parties are winners in this solution! We will serve our partners with electronic information following international standards and reporting back from terminals will automatically update our own operating system. This will save time both at Transatlantic as well as at our ports and also give our service competitive advantages before other operators. We will also be able to operate our vessels with container information updated in real time!" says Anders Linderberg, Financial Director of Transatlantic European Services.

"InPort implement a well proven solution terminals as well at liner agents. Our solution will integrate several partners and we are very proud to be selected as the “integrator” considering that Transatlantic carefully has investigated solutions on the market and found InPort the best choice." says Kent-Ove Moberg, MD of InPort Intelligent Port Systems A/S & AB.
