Halmstad Port and Stevedoring makes strategic investment in standardised EDI solution for container logistics from InPort!

Halmstad Port and Stevedoring company will heavily increase the container operations in the port due to the establishment of the large “Biltema” distribution centre.

This will also have an impact on other container traffic which is expected to increase substantially in volume. Both operations and administration have to be solved in a most efficient way and using modern IT solutions is of course very important.

Therefore, the Port of Halmstad has decided to invest in solutions that will contribute to the following:

- offering customers a very good administrative service
- making the container operations even more efficient
- making sure that reporting and receiving of logistic information will be of excellent quality
- reducing costs in both operations and administration

The Port of Halmstad is very aware of the current international standards for container business which are subsequently more and more practised.

For years the Port of Halmstad has used solutions from InPort. This fact and also the fact that most terminals in the Nordic countries already use electronic container message solutions from InPort have resulted in a strategic investment and newly signed contract with InPort covering:

- automatic electronic messages for gate in and gate out movements
- receiving electronically container manifest as well as loading orders from liner agents and container operators
- electronically reporting both discharge and loading of units to partners such as agents,      operators etc.
- electronically receiving release orders
- fork lift PC solutions for working orders to be used in the operational site using wireless LAN meaning also real time update of all movements in the port
