Press release
The leading terminal for exporting timber in Sweden, Terminal West AB, orders a complete logistic system from InPort.
The logistic system PORTit has been chosen for the port’s strategic IT investment within logistics and integration with customers and will be implemented during first half of 2006. Products like vessel call, offers & agreements, resource planning, container administration, third party logistics for especially timber and also integration to financial and salary systems are part of the agreement.
Today, Terminal West AB is the leading port of timber shipments and also has an extensive warehousing for such goods.
”Today, we are a very competitive port and our services must continuously be strengthen by modern IT technology and communication. Thereby, we will be able to offer our customers even more efficient logistic solutions. All of our warehousing/third party logistic will for instance be integrated with our customers. Wireless communication in trucks integrated in the electronic flow will result in even faster and more efficient handling and – not unimportant – reduced administration.
InPort’s knowledge from both timber and container industries are important factors in our choice of strategic IT supplier. The strong position of InPort as supplier to the greater part of ports in Sweden, as well as the recent merger with a strong ownership structure, and a very large customer base provide us the confidence which we regard as necessary for such advanced services. We have seen the positive results which InPort’s solutions entail in many other ports and this has strongly contributed to our decision”, says Torbjörn Wedebrand, VD at Terminal West.
”Through the choice of Terminal West, InPort strengthens its position on the market even more and is very pleased with the ports decision. We regard timber and third party logistic as a very strategic and important market. Since the choice of Terminal West therefore is in almost all timber ports in Sweden among our customers. This means that our solutions will have many users and can be developed as standardized solutions at competitive prices”, says Kent-Ove Moberg, VD InPort Intelligent Port Systems AB and A/S.
