InPort solution was ordered late June 2006 and implemented in full production 2 weeks later.

This means that Samskip no longer needs any fax, time consuming phone calls, lists or similar from their terminal operator Terminal West.

All information about each container regarding gate in, gate out, loaded on vessel and disharged from vessel is automatically sent from InPort container module in real time. At Samskip they automatically update their shipping system with this information without any manual interface or registrering.

This saves time for Terminal West, lower costs for handling of information, gives their customer most reliable information with highest quality.

For Samskip time consuming manual input is no longer needed saving time and costs. Just in time information about each single container gives Samskip superior knowledge for operating their vessels as well as efficient container movements.

Next step for Terminal West is now to expand the EDIFACT and electronic communication and receive all discharging containers in advance. This will be done using again well proven solutions from InPort based on procedures already up running in other container terminals.
